Prelim Budget for 2013

December 14th, 2012 at 04:00 pm

I will have to adjust my income and amounts after the first of the year because I don't know how my paycheck will look with the increased insurance and taxes. Maybe I will get a raise to cover everything! Smile

I based this budget on my pay now working 40hrs. I have the giving category paid for till 04/13, assocation fees for 2013 funded and daycare paid until 09/13. Our medical category as of now is zero. We will have our normal check ups and Dr visits and our medicine is preventative.

I'm alloting myself $100 entertainment/blow money to catch any overage on other categories that I fall short.

I should be receiving an additional $1500/mth in child support but since it comes sparatically I do not count that into my budget.

Are you able to keep to your budget for groceries? $150 per month for an adult, a teen, and a little? That's impressive. Will you share some of your strategies? Do you garden? Extreme coupon? Make a menu plan?

Petunia-I've been couponing for about 4 years now. I also make a menu. My DD1 will make herself a shake or grab a piece of toast and fruit while she's headed out to the door to the bus stop. She eats a tray lunch at school. DD2 eats a bfast and tray lunch at school. The YMCA provides breakfast every morning but its normally cereal or a poptart and she perfers warm food. My job has free food for the employees. I can grab a can of Progresso Soup, make a sandwich, etc. I only plan dinners and weekend. I'm not too fancy when it comes to cooking. I use the crockpot alot. My favorite cookbook is $5 Dinners by Erin Chase. Her breakfast and lunch cookbook is good too (I asked for that for Christmas). I upped the budget for 2013. This year I had been pulling out $50 every two weeks for groceries. I use the cash envelope system.

Jerry-The insurance premiums are taken out of my check so the budget above is my net income after everything is taken out. I put zero medical because now the asthma and allergy medicine that I was paying for is now covered under preventative under the Obamacare. I might have a few "sick" Dr visits that aren't planned with my copay being $25oop but the extra $100 that I alloted will cover that.
