Paying down the mortgage

May 18th, 2015 at 03:21 pm

I made another wire transfer today toward the mortgage! It's not a lot but its something. I will have another wire transfer at the end of the month when I get paid and do a sweep of my checking account.

$50 of the money was from a return that I made at Michaels. I bought a nice wood piece with a black chalkboard map of the United States on it but couldn't find anywhere in my house to hang it.
$133 was a nice check from Ebates.

Balance $94,602.03
Paid -$448.28
New Total $94,153.75

I hope to break the $90K mark soon!

Does your bank charge you a fee for each wire transfer?

Petunia has the same question I do. I wonder if you are just making an electronic payment than an actual wire. Wiring money usually has high fees on both sides of the transaction. The only time I do a wire is when I have proceeds from a home sale and I'm not in town to collect a check.

Good question. My credit union holds the mortgage. The wire is done as a courtesy and they put it thru when they are doing wire batches so my payment isn't the only one being sent. I kept the credit union real estate contact persons info that worked on my refinance so each time I want to make an extra payment I just email her.
