Update

October 26th, 2015 at 06:34 pm

I decided to move the $2K that I had in my Vacation Fund over to my Car Fund along with the refund that I received from the Travel Agency for the China trip that they had to cancel.

I've given some thought to the mission trips and the single parents cruise and we are not going.

I'm going to have to channel my love for searching for great travel deals into something else to keep me occupied.

Imagine what I could do with no house payment. That sure would be nice!

I will not be meeting my goal this year for paying down the house mainly due to child support. I have received it twice this year.

It is not a matter of not having the money either.

Thank goodness for the Dave Ramsey plan!

Maybe you could help someone you know make travel plans using your skills...for a fee!

I love creditcardfree's idea! And I know how you feel - I am focusing on eliminating that mortgage payment! It would free up so much money that we could spend on other things or save!

CCF - that does sound like a great idea! She'd be able to use her planning skills AND help someone else out. Win win! Smile

I handle travel for all of our executives in the Houston office. It's just not international and not 'fun' travel.

If getting your child support regularly is a problem, I'd consider diverting some of the saved travel money into a legal fund- not paying court-ordered child support is NOT an option for anyone in this country, and it disgusts and saddens me that people often have to go to court again to get it actually enforced. If it's consistently delinquent I believe the courts can take it directly from his paycheck, but check your local laws.

I received child support three times in 2015. I've paid a lawyer and have taken him to court before to hold him in contempt. All that happened was he wrote a check right there in the court room and that was it. The court does not enforce it. It just grows and accrues interest. He does not receive a paycheck because he is self employed. He will not set up auto draft. The child support is a lot of money because he makes a lot of money but he pays if and when he wants to and not on a monthly basis. Therefore, the money is treated more of a bonus when I get it.
