The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The bad - My car was hit in the parking garage here at work 3 weeks ago. It has taken this long for the parking garage's insurance company to get back with me. Claim denied!

The ugly - Why don't people leave a note on your car with their insurance information anymore?

I submitted a claim through my insurance company. Today I will be taking my car to the service center to have it looked over and get the repairs done. It will be up to the insurance adjuster if the claim is filed as a hit and run and I will need to pay $250 or if I will need to pay the full deductable $1,000.

The good - They have already reserved a nice new rental car for me to use. These things happen and I am glad that I have full coverage insurance on my paid for car. I am also thankful for a emergency fund.

    Sure hope you filed a police report when you discovered your car had been damaged in the parking garage. Police findings make a claim so much stronger. What reason did the parking garage give for denying the claim? Can you ask for a review of the decision? Will the claims agent assist with the parking garage insurance agent?

    The problem with claiming through your insurance are long term repercussions and likely increased premiums

    I believe I found the car that hit mine. I will be making a police report today and providing pictures of the other vehicle. I've already called and talked to my insurance company. If the person has insurance then I will pay the $1K and if not then I will pay the $250. Then they would bill her insurance company and recoop the $1K deducable for me. I am transferring money over to have on hand.

    Great news that the repairs only cost $499 so I will be reimbursed!

    That is great that your repair bill was so low! Congrats... I am still a little surprised that the parking company's insurance denied your claim, but at least it won't lead to a huge out-of-pocket expense.
