Audible.com/Library

July 15th, 2013 at 07:29 pm

Right now I'm down to one book that I will finish this week.

I looked on Audible.com's website at the NY Times Bestseller audiobooks. Then requested every single one of them that I wanted from my library (all non fiction)! There were only two books that my library didn't have available cd that I got in print.

My commute to/from work is killer hence the audiobooks to keep me sane!

Have you read any books recently that you would recommend or just any in general that were good reads?

This is so timely. I was just thinking today that I need to get some audio books to listen to in the car with the kids. The music out there is either really trashy or very dry Christian where we live. I'm thinking about some of the Classics, though I'm not sure where to even begin!

I love Audiobooks. I don't listen to them as often now as I used to when I lived in a larger city and had a longer commute. I recent read "Longitude" by Dava Sobel in print. I am sure there is an Audiobook version as well. It isn't a long book, and is quite interesting.

Do you have an audio jack for auxiliary input? I use my iPhone (any MP3-type player will work, but I find smart phones are the easiest) to listen to podcasts. I have two particular casts I listen to: Dave Ramsey for the debt-free screams for motivation; manager-tools.com for their podcasts. The manager-tools have a companion web area for career-tools. In both cases, they give you things to do that will improve your management skills or your work skills. They don't just say, "communicate better according to the listener's style." They say, "Here's how you determine the listener's style, and here' what you say and how you say it to communicate with them."

I really suggest anyone with any direct reports go to manager-tools.com. If you are not yet a manager, check out the career-tools side for hints/tasks/plans to help you move up in your organization to become a leader/manager. Manager-tools is free, but they have a lot of things you can purchase, as well. Most - I think "all" - of their podcasts are free, as is their forum.
